O8.18.08 We are getting near the end of the East Coast skimboarding season. Next up is Virginia Beach August 23-24. Information HERE A few notes on ECSC in Dewey Beach, it was well run as all of the competitions are thanks to Skim City Greg, Harry Wilson, Joe Bonk, Bryce and the others who work so hard. Thanks to all who followed my LIVE updates on Twitter, again I did my best with very little signal. I do feel that the town of Dewey Beach really needs to give the skimmers more room on the beach to skim. The small area outside of the contest area that was roped off, where riders could warm up, was way too small and down right dangerous. Little guys skimming with Pros, with way too many guys going for a wave is a recipe for disaster. The competition brings big dollars into town and the kids deserve more room to skim while they are there. I know its the middle of August, but give us a beach or two to ride on.

06.24.08 Review of LBI Skim Jam 2008 - Sorry for the delay, but after two long days in the sand I needed a day of rest before blogging about the event. The bad things about Barnegat Light are that there is not a bathroom in sight and the walk to the beach takes 15 minutes through the wilderness. The good things are limitless, the place is beautiful. The Pros were out in force for this event again and it is great to see some of them making an effort to stay around after they compete to talk to the other riders. Also big props again to Bryce, Bonk , Surf Shack Mary and Skim City Greg for working their asses off all weekend to pull off such a well run event. The storms came very late in the day on Saturday so some events were moved to Sunday, which turned out to be an amazing day after rain was forecast. As usual Victoria and Exile riders ruled the Pro division. The highlight of the event for theskimlife was when theskimlife.com team rider Jr. Men's John O'Hara gave MC Bryce a theskimlife.com complimentary shirt and HE WORE IT for the entire day on Sunday...You can't buy that kind of publicity. The hit count on the website doubled on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday - Thanks Bryce!! We are also having a limited printing of new T Shirts (same design) on dark purple shirts so if you want one make contact now.

06.01.08 Back from the South Side Shoot Out - What a weekend in Delaware!! If you were following me on Twitter day one went well and day two was a disaster. My iPhone keyboard decided to die and I was unable to even send a text message never mind Twitter updates. Anyway I gave it a try on Saturday and did my best with 20+ mph south winds, a tornado watch and biting flies. On to the competition- best I have ever attended, every pro under the sun was there. South Side Shoot Out is now part of the UST and therefore all the pros must attend. All the west coast guys were there, guys who haven't been east in forever. The competiton was done up right, Joe Bonk and Bryce we the MC's as usual and were in rare form - Excellent. Dewey Beach really does it up well, this is a great competition, well worth the trip. The conditions on Sunday were most likely the best ever for a east Coast competition, overhead on sets!! Watching the Pros work was like watching one of the skim videos of Cabo or West Street. I'm going to get the Pro final results and post them ASAP. I had to leave for my ferry ride home before the Pro finals... I know, I know but I do have a day job! stay tuned.

Riverboarding is powered by a bungee system that slingshots you upstream. You use the river current to stretch the bungee. Once the bungee is done pulling, it releases from the board allowing you to do many boardsport tricks. "I also posted the highest heat score out of all the riders in the semi finals.  I am truly on cloud nine right now!  I mean I grew up in freakin Pennsylvania and used to dream of making a final and winning and stuff and now it has come true! "

"In the semifinals, I went for my first wave and fell and got a charliehorse in my left leg, I am thinking, "Great, I am finished."  Then I fell on the next two waves and on the next wave that I run for I plained way out and it broke on me and I got a charliehorse in my other leg!  I could barely even walk let alone skim!  Then out of nowhere a wave pops up right in front of me, a step on liner, I took like 3 steps and rode this wave for like 25 yards and while riding it I did a firehydrant.  I walk not run up the beach and am not standing there for more than 20 seconds and another one pops up and I rode this one just as far.  Those two waves got me the highest score in the semis!  I know that that was God putting those waves there for me.  I couldn't even run and I ended up winning!!!"

02.14.08 Happy Valentine's Day - I'm boiling up some shrimp in Old Bay seasoning for my lady tonight. Here's what I'm doing, right from the internet. http://beaufortusa.com/recipes2.htm
Boil water in a large pot, season if desired with salt, lemon pepper or crab season. Add shrimp and cook until shrimp turns pink and begins to float. This does not take long, usually less than 1 minute. DO NOT OVERCOOK. Drain water and you've got the best tasting shrimp around.
Add some cocktail sauce to the plates for dip, an extra bowl for the shrimp shells, lots of paper towels and everyone can shell their shrimp as they eat.
